In the second case, CBI apprehended an Income Tax Officer and Steno of Income Tax Office, Fatehpur, UP, for seeking undue advantage of Rs. 10,000 from a complainant. The accused allegedly threatened the complainant to initiate false reports and impose fines if the bribe was not paid. Similarly, a Branch Manager of Aryavart Bank, Ajnar Branch, Mahoba, U.P., was arrested for demanding a bribe of Rs. 6000 to facilitate withdrawal from a loan account.

The arrests were made following traps laid by CBI, with searches conducted at the premises of the accused. The investigations are ongoing, with the arrested individuals set to be produced before designated courts.

CBI ARRESTS TWO ACCUSED INCLUDING CGST ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER AND INSPECTOR ON ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs. 1.5 LAKH

CBI has today arrested an Assistant Commissioner and Inspector of CGST & CX, Div-1, Belapur, Navi Mumbai in a case of demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 1.5 lakh from the complainant.

A case was registered against the accused Assistant Commissioner on a complaint. It was alleged that the complainant, partner of a transport firm, had received a Show Cause Notice issued by the Assistant Commissioner, CGST & CX, Div-1, Belapur Commissionerate, Navi Mumbai. Further, it was alleged that complainant, thereafter, submitted required documents. It was also alleged that accused Assistant Commissioner demanded Rs. 6,00,000/- bribe from complainant for settling the Show Cause Notice related to Service Tax. After negotiations, accused public servant agreed to accept bribe amount of Rs.1,50,000/-. The complainant was told to give bribe amount through the Inspector, CGST.

CBI laid a trap and caught the said Inspector, CGST while accepting Rs. 1.5 lakh bribe amount from complainant on behalf of the accused Assistant Commissioner, CGST & CX, Div-1, Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Both of them have been arrested by CBI.

Searches are being conducted at residential and official premises of accused public servants.

The arrested accused will be produced before the Competent Court.

Investigation is continuing.

CBI ARRESTS THREE ACCUSED INCLUDING AN INCOME TAX OFFICER AND A BANK MANAGER IN TWO SEPARATE CASES OF BRIBERY

CBI has today arrested three accused Including an Income Tax Officer (ITO), Steno of Income Tax Office and a Branch Manager, on accepting undue advantage in two separate cases of bribery.

In the first case, CBI arrested Income Tax Officer and Steno of Income Tax Office, Fatehpur, UP on receiving a bribe amount of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered by CBI on a complaint alleging that accused Income Tax Officer and Steno of Income Tax Office demanded undue advantage of Rs. 25,000/- threatening to initiate false report and imposing fine against complainant's customer service portal if the bribe was not given. The bribe amount was reduced by the accused to Rs. 20,000/- during negotiation.

CBI laid a trap and caught the said Steno red handed while accepting undue advantage of Rs 10,000/- from complainant at the instance of said ITO. Both have been arrested. Searches are being conducted at the premises of accused.

In the second case, CBI arrested Branch Manager, Aryavart Bank, Ajnar Branch, Mahoba, U.P. while accepting bribe of Rs. 6000/- from the complainant.

A case was registered against the said Branch Manager on a complaint alleging that the accused demanded undue advantage of Rs. 5000/- for allowing withdrawal from loan account of his father. During negotiation, accused increased the demand for bribe to Rs. 6000/-.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused Branch Manager red-handed while accepting undue advantage of Rs. 6,000 from the complainant. The accused has been arrested.
